Summary

The FDA's MAUDE database contains 12 adverse event reports that list this exact device (DI 00802526533747), received between Apr 13, 2019 and Apr 13, 2023 — classified as 7 injuries, 5 malfunctions.

The most frequently reported specific device problem is “Premature Discharge of Battery” (8 reports).

14 other recalls cover devices cleared under the same FDA submission (P960040); they may or may not involve this specific model.

Reports come from manufacturers, hospitals and patients and are not verified by the FDA. A report does not prove the device caused the event, and counts can't be used to compare devices or estimate failure rates. IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE BATTERY OF THIS IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER DEFIBRILLATOR (ICD) WAS SUSPECTED TO BE DEPLETING PREMATURELY AFTER REACHING END OF LIFE (EOL). THIS PATIENT WAS HOSPITALIZED, AND THIS ICD WAS SUCCESSFULLY REPLACED. A REQUEST WAS THEN MADE TO HAVE DATA FROM THIS DEVICE ANALYZED. DATA ANALYSIS FOUND THIS PACEMAKER TO HAVE NORMAL BATTERY DEPLETION. NO ADDITIONAL ADVERSE PATIENT EFFECTS WERE REPORTED. THIS DEVICE WAS EVENTUALLY RETURNED FOR ANALYSIS.

Patient problems: No Clinical Signs, Symptoms or Conditions

IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE RIGHT VENTRICULAR (RV) LEAD OF THE IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER DEFIBRILLATOR (ICD) SYSTEM EXHIBITED HIGH PACING THRESHOLDS. IT WAS OBSERVED THAT BLOOD WAS PRESENT IN THE RV CHANNEL OF THE ICD HEADER AND THE ICD WAS EXPLANTED AND REPLACED WITHOUT COMPLICATION. THE ICD WAS RETURNED TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ANALYSIS. NO ADDITIONAL ADVERSE PATIENT EFFECTS WERE REPORTED.

IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE SYNCOPE AND PACING INHIBITION WAS NOTED. THE PATIENT WAS HOSPITALIZED. REVIEW OF THE DATA WAS REQUESTED. THE IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER DEFIBRILLATOR (ICD) REMAINS IN SERVICE AND NO ADDITIONAL ADVERSE PATIENT EFFECTS WERE REPORTED. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED THAT BOSTON SCIENTIFIC TECHNICAL SERVICES (TS) REVIEWED THE ELECTROGRAM (EGM) STRIP AND NOTED OVERSENSING OF A FAR-FIELD SIGNAL OF THE ATRIAL PACE CAUSING PACING INHIBITION. TS NOTED THAT THE OVERSENSING COULD NOT BE RULED OUT AS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF THE PATIENT'S SYNCOPE. TS FURTHER DISCUSSED TROUBLESHOOTING AND PROGRAMMING OPTIONS. THE CLINIC REPROGRAMMED THE ICD. THE ICD REMAINS IN SERVICE AND NO ADVERSE PATIENT EFFECTS WERE REPORTED.
