Quick summary
The AMS 800 is an implanted artificial urinary sphincter, a mechanical device with an inflatable cuff placed around the urethra to hold urine in. Reports mostly describe the cuff developing holes or cracks, leaking fluid so the device stopped working and patients returned to incontinence, which in several cases meant revision surgery to remove and replace the device. Among 57 reports there were 55 injuries and no deaths. No recalls name this device.
