Quick summary

This Olympus MAF-GM2 airway mobilescope is a thin flexible bronchoscope used to look at the airways and lungs. Most of the 33 reports describe its coating peeling or flaking off, plus images that fail to appear or come through poorly, a torn channel, and objects left inside the channel. Two reports describe injuries, with no deaths. Two open recalls started in 2023: one because repaired scopes came back with water still inside the channel, and one because the scope can get stuck in a breathing tube connector.
