We found 28 models of G7 Longevity by Zimmer, Inc. in the FDA's device registry (GUDID). Together they are named in 85 adverse event reports in the FDA's MAUDE database, received between Mar 27, 2020 and Sep 8, 2026 — classified as 34 injuries, 51 malfunctions.
The most frequently reported specific device problem is “Difficult to Insert” (34 reports).
Reports come from manufacturers, hospitals and patients and are not verified by the FDA. A report does not prove the device caused the event. Widely used products collect more reports, so totals can't be used to compare products or estimate failure rates. Only reports that name a model's exact device identifier are counted. MalfunctionSep 8, 2026Difficult to Insert; Separation Failure
It was reported that during an initial procedure, the liner could not be implanted in a satisfactory position or extracted, requiring it to be cut into pieces and removed. Another liner was used to complete the surgery, causing an approximately 20-minute delay.Attempts have been made and no further information has been provided.
Patient problems: No Clinical Signs, Symptoms or Conditions
MAUDE report 50668362 ↗MalfunctionAug 10, 2026Difficult to Insert; Difficult or Delayed Separation
It was reported that during an initial hip procedure, the liner could not be implanted properly after multiple attempts. When implanted, the liner was not aligned with the edge of the cup and it appeared crooked. Repeated attempts to implant the liner failed to resolve the issue, resulting in loosening of the acetabular cup. It was decided to remove the liner. An attempt to remove the liner with instruments was unsuccessful. A threaded wrench was used to remove the liner. Two screws were implanted to stabilize the cup and a new liner was successfully implanted. There was a 20 minute delay. There was no known impact or consequences to the patient.Attempts have been made and no further information has been provided.
Patient problems: No Clinical Signs, Symptoms or Conditions
MAUDE report 50191961 ↗InjuryJun 14, 2026Fracture
IT WAS REPORTED THAT APPROXIMATELY FOUR AND A HALF YEARS POST-IMPLANTATION, THE PATIENT UNDERWENT A HIP REVISION DUE TO A BROKEN LINER. THE PATIENT FIRST NOTICED AN ISSUE WHILE DOING LEG PRESSES IN THE GYM. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
Patient problems: Insufficient Information
MAUDE report 25497697 ↗MalfunctionApr 27, 2026Difficult to Insert
IT WAS REPORTED THAT A G LINER DID NOT FULLY SEAT AND LOCK INTO A CUP. THERE WAS NO PATIENT IMPACTS. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
Patient problems: No Clinical Signs, Symptoms or Conditions
MAUDE report 25001168 ↗MalfunctionMar 11, 2026Difficult to Insert

MAUDE report 24568381 ↗MalfunctionFeb 18, 2026Difficult to Insert
IT WAS REPORTED THAT DURING INSERTION OF A HIGH WALL LINER INTO AN ACETABULAR CUP, THE LINER WOULD NOT SEAT WITH THE CUP. THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND SOME TABS WERE DAMAGED. THE REPORTER NOTED THAT NO UNUSUAL FORCE WAS APPLIED AND THERE WAS NO OBSTRUCTION WITHIN THE CUP. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.

IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE PATIENT EXPERIENCED SNAPPING IN THE HIP APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS POST-IMPLANTATION. IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PATIENT HAD ILIOPSOAS TENDINITIS CAUSED BY IMPINGEMENT. PATIENT WAS REFERRED FOR AN INJECTION UNDER FLUOROSCOPY. NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR THE REPORTED EVENT.

MAUDE report 24188713 ↗MalfunctionDec 29, 2025Difficult to Insert; Difficult to Insert
IT WAS REPORTED THAT DURING A RIGHT HIP PROCEDURE, THE LINER WOULD NOT MATE WITH THE CUP. IT WAS ENSURED THE CUP WAS FREE OF DEBRIS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO IMPLANT A SECOND LINER. THE SECOND LINER NEVER SAT FLUSH WITH IMPACTION. A DIFFERENT SIZE LINER WAS USED TO COMPLETE THE PROCEDURE AND IT FIT WITH NO ISSUES. THERE WAS NO KNOWN IMPACT OR CONSEQUENCES TO THE PATIENT. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
