We found 19 models of Persona Natural Tibia Trabecular Metal by Zimmer, Inc. in the FDA's device registry (GUDID). Together they are named in 180 adverse event reports in the FDA's MAUDE database, received between Feb 7, 2020 and Sep 30, 2026 — classified as 175 injuries, 5 malfunctions.
The most frequently reported specific device problem is “Loosening of Implant Not Related to Bone-Ingrowth” (70 reports).
Reports come from manufacturers, hospitals and patients and are not verified by the FDA. A report does not prove the device caused the event. Widely used products collect more reports, so totals can't be used to compare products or estimate failure rates. Only reports that name a model's exact device identifier are counted. POSTOPERATIVELY, THE PATIENT DEVELOPED KNEE PAIN, AND AT FOLLOW-UP VISITS THE SURGEON IDENTIFIED PROGRESSIVE TIBIAL COMPONENT LOOSENING ON RADIOGRAPHS WITH MINIMAL TO NO BONE INGROWTH AT THE BONE¿IMPLANT INTERFACE. INTRA-OPERATIVELY DURING THE REVISION, THE TIBIAL COMPONENT WAS CONFIRMED TO BE LOOSE WITH MINIMAL BONE INGROWTH, WAS REMOVED, AND REPLACED WITH A CEMENTED TIBIAL COMPONENT WITH A STEM AND A POLYETHYLENE INSERT. ATTEMPTS TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HAVE BEEN MADE; HOWEVER, NO MORE IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
