ACCORDING TO THE REPORTER, DURING A PROCEDURE, THE PATIENT COUGHED BLOOD AND IT ENTERED THE CAPNOGRAPHY LINE. THE RESPIRATORY THERAPIST WAS QUICK TO DISCONNECT THE ETCO2 LINE FROM THE CAPNOGRAPH SO IT WOULD NOT BE CONTAMINATED. THE BLOOD FROM THE PATIENT CAUSED THE CAPNOGRAPHY LINE TO STOP WORKING PROPERLY.
