We found 27 models of ANTHEM by Globus Medical, Inc. in the FDA's device registry (GUDID). Together they are named in 30 adverse event reports in the FDA's MAUDE database, received between Sep 23, 2020 and Sep 14, 2026 — classified as 7 injuries, 23 malfunctions.
The most frequently reported specific device problem is “Fracture” (14 reports).
Reports come from manufacturers, hospitals and patients and are not verified by the FDA. A report does not prove the device caused the event. Widely used products collect more reports, so totals can't be used to compare products or estimate failure rates. Only reports that name a model's exact device identifier are counted. Patient problems: Nonunion/Delayed-union Bone Fracture
MAUDE report 50459946 ↗MalfunctionJun 15, 2026Fracture; Patient Device Interaction Problem
IT WAS REPORTED THAT AT THE PATIENT'S LAST FOLLOW-UP IN (B)(6) 2026, IMAGING SHOWED THAT THE PLATE BROKE AND THERE IS AM ATROPHIC NON-UNION. THE SURGEON REMOVED THE PLATE AND SCREWS ON (B)(6) 2026. ALL SCREWS WERE REMOVED FROM THE PATIENT AND NONE OF THE SCREWS WERE BROKEN.
Patient problems: Failure of Implant
MAUDE report 25506070 ↗MalfunctionMay 19, 2026Fracture; Migration
IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE PATIENT HAD ORIGINAL SURGERY FOR A LEFT DISTAL FEMUR FRACTURE (B)(6) 2025. THE PATIENT WAS HAVING A REVISION SURGERY DONE DUE TO A NONUNION. THE DISTAL LOCKING SCREWS IN THE PLATE SHEARED OFF AND THE CANCELLOUS SCREW BACKED OUT. THERE WERE ALSO 4 LAG SCREWS IN THE PATIENT AND 2 OF THE WERE BROKEN AS WELL. THE SURGEON DID NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE LAG SCREWS AS HE DID NOT FEEL IT WOULD HAVE ANY ADVERSE EFFECT TO THE PATIENT. THE SURGEON TOOK OUT THE PLATE AND ALL THE SCREWS FOR THE PLATE, USED THE SYNTHES RIA AND THEN PUT IN ONE OF OUR 12X360 RETROGRADE NAIL AND LEFT RETROGRADE LOCKING WASHER PLATE. DURING TODAY'S SURGERY SOME SAMPLES WERE SENT TO PATHOLOGY AND ONE OF THE SAMPLES DID COME BACK WITH A NEUTROPHILS RANGE OF 5-10 WHICH INDICATES A POSSIBLE INFECTION. AFTER THE ORIGINAL SURGERY ON (B)(6) 2025, PATIENT DID NOT RETURN FOR PART 2 OF MASQUELET.
Patient problems: Nonunion/Delayed-union Bone Fracture; Unspecified Infection
MAUDE report 25221674 ↗InjuryMar 9, 2026Fracture
IT WAS REPORTED THAT THIS PLATE WAS PUT INTO A PATIENT WITH A PROXIMAL TIBIA FRACTURE IN MID (B)(6) 2025. THE PATIENT ATTEMPTED TO PUT WEIGHT ON HIS RIGHT LEG TOO SOON CAUSING ANOTHER FRACTURE IN HIS RIGHT TIBIA. HE WAS BROUGHT BACK FOR ADDITIONAL SURGERY. THE INITIAL PLAN WAS TO PUT ANOTHER PLATE MEDIALLY. HOWEVER, ONCE THE SURGEON TOOK X-RAYS IN THE OPERATING ROOM, HE NOTICED THAT THE PROXIMAL TIBIA PLATE WAS BROKEN. THE PROXIMAL TIBIA PLATE WAS REMOVED DUE TO THIS. THE SURGEON STATED THAT HE DOES NOT BELIEVE THE PLATE WAS NECESSARILY THE PROBLEM, HE THINKS THE CAUSE WAS THE PATIENT PUTTING TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE IMPLANT TOO EARLY ON. THE SURGEON ALSO STATED THAT THIS PLATE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE PATIENT DUE TO HIS SIZE AND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER CAUSE.
