We found 9 models of G7 ACETABULAR SCREW by Biomet Orthopedics, LLC in the FDA's device registry (GUDID). Together they are named in 95 adverse event reports in the FDA's MAUDE database, received between Feb 5, 2020 and Sep 1, 2026 — classified as 70 injuries, 25 malfunctions.
The most frequently reported specific device problem is “Loosening of Implant Not Related to Bone-Ingrowth” (24 reports).
Reports come from manufacturers, hospitals and patients and are not verified by the FDA. A report does not prove the device caused the event. Widely used products collect more reports, so totals can't be used to compare products or estimate failure rates. Only reports that name a model's exact device identifier are counted. MAUDE report 25502935 ↗InjuryMar 4, 2026Adverse Event Without Identified Device or Use Problem
IT WAS REPORTED THAT APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS POST-IMPLANTATION, THE PATIENT UNDERWENT A HIP REVISION DUE TO INSTABILITY, RECURRENT DISLOCATIONS, AND IMPINGEMENT FROM POOR POSITIONING OF IMPLANTS. THE SURGEON ATTRIBUTED THE RECURRENT DISLOCATION TO POOR CUP PLACEMENT. THE TROCHANTERIC CLAW HAD ANTERIOR FIXATION RESULTING IN TISSUE IMPINGEMENT. DURING THE REVISION, A COMPETITOR CUP WAS CEMENTED INTO THE EXISTING CUP; THE HEAD AND LINER WERE EXCHANGED; AND THE STEM AND CLAW WERE RETAINED WITH SOME TISSUE AROUND THE GREATER TROCHANTER DEBRIDED. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
Patient problems: Joint Dislocation; Joint Impingement; Joint Laxity; Pain
MAUDE report 24511740 ↗MalfunctionJan 5, 2026Positioning Problem
IT WAS REPORTED THAT DURING THE PROCEDURE, THE SURGEON INSERTED CUP, SCREW AND LINER. WHEN REDUCING THE HIP, THE LINER HAD MOVED, WAS NO LONGER SEATED FLUSH. THE SURGEON REMOVED THE LINER TO CONFIRM THE SCREWS WERE FLUSH AND NOT PREVENTING THE LINER FROM BEING FULLY SEATED. THE SCREW WAS REMOVED AND NOT REINSERTED AS CUP WAS WELL FIXATED. A NEW LINER WAS USED, AND IT MATED WITH THE CUP SUCCESSFULLY. THE SURGEON FELT THE LINER WAS BENT DURING REMOVAL AND THERE APPEARED TO BE NO DAMAGE TO THE SCREW. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
